The Saigon Opera House was constructed in 1898 and officially inaugurated on January 1, 1900. Its first performance was held on January 17 of the same year. More than 120 years old, the Saigon Opera House is a multi-purpose performing arts venue located in the heart of Ho Chi Minh City. Featuring distinctive French architectural elements typical of the late 19th century, the Opera House regularly hosts political and cultural events of Ho Chi Minh City, as well as outstanding artistic programs by local and international organizations. Often described by artists as a “Sanctuary of the Arts,” the Saigon Opera House has been recognized as a National-Level Architectural and Artistic Heritage Site.

The Ho Chi Minh City Arts Center is a public service unit under the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Culture and Sports. It is responsible for organizing and producing artistic performances and film screenings, as well as developing and implementing cultural and artistic activities to serve political and cultural objectives, meet international cultural exchange needs, and satisfy the public’s demand for culture, arts, and entertainment.
